Open the registerISO 22343-1:2023 cancelled and replaced IWA 14-1:2013 after a technical revision. The foreword names four changes: alignment with modern technology and practice, reviewed figures with surface-placed barriers explicitly identified, reporting of the furthest part of the vehicle beyond the datum, and a general review of text and structure. The rating form and the 2 kg debris threshold are not the same as PAS 68.

The ISO foreword is the public record of the changes. It says the document was brought into line with modern technology and practices, all figures were reviewed and surface-placed barriers were explicitly identified, additional reporting of the furthest part of the vehicle beyond the datum was added, and the text and structure were reviewed for clarity.
IWA 14-1 and ISO 22343-1 both use a vehicle impact test, but the code, the class marking and the debris rule differ. An IWA rating is not converted into an ISO rating by changing the prefix. A new test or a test-house statement is needed.
ISO 22343-1 counts major debris from 2 kg. PAS 68 uses 25 kg. A debris distance quoted under one threshold is not comparable with the other, and the difference matters behind the barrier.
Record the old rating and its standard. Ask whether the barrier has a current ISO 22343-1 test. If not, treat the old rating as history and plan a test or a risk acceptance. Do not let a supplier present an old rating as the current edition.
Yes. ISO 22343-1:2023 cancelled and replaced it. An old test result can still be evidence of past performance, but it is not a current edition rating.
Only a test house can say whether an old result supports a new rating, and it would need to assess the differences. A desk conversion by the buyer is not a rating.
The classes and masses are close but not identical. Table 2 in ISO 22343-1 sets its own masses, including 29 500 kg for N3E where IWA 14-1 used 24 000 kg.
