Annexes

Annex A is normative. The rest is guidance.

Annex A carries the normative measurement controls for the test vehicle. Annexes B to D are informative: they illustrate the drawings, the post-impact access question and the post-impact measurements. None of the informative annexes creates a requirement. Each page says which it is, because an assessment finding has to rest on a normative clause.

Annex A, normative measurement controls

ControlRecordThe answer in one lineStatus
A-01Test vehicle identity and classAnnex A is the normative measurement sheet for the test vehicle. The first control is identity: the make, model, category and individual vehicle that produced the impact.Normative
A-02Test mass and ballastThe test mass is the unladen mass plus ballast, weighed to the stated accuracy and restrained so that it does not move on impact.Normative
A-03Test vehicle dimensionsAnnex A records the dimensions of the test vehicle. They are measured, not taken from a brochure, and they include the features that touch the barrier.Normative
A-04Datum point and reference marksThe vehicle datum point and the VSB datum line are fixed marks. The penetration and debris distances are measured from them.Normative
A-05Vehicle condition and modificationsThe test vehicle must have the chassis and front structure as the maker built them. A load bed and secured ballast are permitted. Anything else that changes the front end or the structure is a departure.Normative
A-06Penetration and debris measurementPenetration is the greater of the dynamic and static distance from the datum line to the vehicle datum point or the furthest part. Major debris is measured to the furthest piece of at least 2 kg.Normative

Annexes B to D, informative

AnnexRecordThe answer in one lineStatus
BExample product and foundation drawingsAnnex B is informative. It gives an example of the product and foundation drawings a manufacturer submits to a test house. It adds no requirement, but it is a useful checklist for the drawing set.Informative
CDetermination of post-impact accessAnnex C is informative. It deals with determining post-impact access. It adds no requirement, but it asks the question the test report does not answer: can people and equipment reach the protected side after the impact?Informative
DPost-impact foundation and VSB measurementsAnnex D is informative. It covers post-impact measurements of the foundation and the barrier. It adds no requirement, but it records the damage that decides whether the barrier can be returned to service.Informative
Why the label matters. If someone tells you that Annex C requires a particular access route, ask which normative clause does. The annex can be the best explanation of a clause without adding an obligation.
THE RECORD THIS IS BUILT FROM

Read from the public record, not invented

Every clause answer on this site points to the official record or the public preview behind it, so you can check any line yourself. The register holds 25 records, 111 evidence lines and 100 common failure lines. The dates come from the ISO stage record. The amendment text is not public, and this site does not describe what it changes.
